A Researcher’s Model Suggests We’re Connected to an Anti-Universe

A researcher named Naman Kumar from the Indian Institute of Technology has proposed a new model to explain the accelerating expansion of the universe without needing to invoke dark matter or dark energy.
His model suggests that our universe is entangled with a “partner anti-universe” whose time flows in the opposite direction to ours. He describes our universe and this anti-universe as an entangled pair that were created during the Big Bang.
The model draws on concepts from quantum theory like relative entropy to show how the mutual influence of our universe and its anti-partner could naturally lead to the observed accelerated expansion over time.
This is not the first proposal of an “anti-universe” – in 2018 another study put forth a similar idea that our universe is the mirror image of one flowing backwards through time.
Kumar argues his model respects fundamental physics principles like CPT symmetry and does not require modifying theories of gravity. However, it assumes the existence of this unobserved anti-universe.
While mainstream science still favors models invoking dark matter/energy, some theorists continue exploring alternative explanations for the universe’s accelerating expansion that don’t rely on undiscovered phenomena.
