Musk warns that he will ban Apple devices if OpenAI is integrated at operating system level

Elon Musk has warned that he will ban all Apple devices at his companies if the tech giant integrates artificial intelligence company OpenAI into its operating systems.
Musk said this level of integration would be an “unacceptable security violation”. Visitors to his companies like Tesla and SpaceX would have to lock their Apple devices in “Faraday cages” where electromagnetic fields are blocked.
Apple recently announced several new AI features and a partnership with OpenAI to integrate its ChatGPT technology into Apple devices. However, Musk criticized this partnership, saying Apple is not capable of ensuring OpenAI will protect users’ security and privacy.
Musk previously sued OpenAI’s CEO Sam Altman, claiming it had abandoned its original mission. He has also founded his own AI startup called xAI to challenge OpenAI.
Analysts think it is unlikely anyone will follow Musk’s lead in banning Apple devices, but Apple is trying to convince users its use of private cloud computing keeps data just as secure as on-device processing.
