Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu released a video message saying regime change in Iran will come “a lot sooner than people think.”
Netanyahu directly addressed Iranians, criticizing Iran’s “fanatic theocrats” and saying Iranians “deserve better” leadership.
Tensions are rising in the Middle East after recent attacks, including an Israeli airstrike in Beirut that killed a senior Hezbollah leader allied with Iran.
Netanyahu has been escalating attacks on Hamas and Hezbollah in retaliation for violence, and expanding operations in West Bank and Lebanon.
He argues Iran’s leaders only support “rapists and murderers” in groups like Hamas and Hezbollah, not ordinary Iranians.
Netanyahu expresses hope that future relations between Israel and Iran, as well as their peoples, can be marked by “prosperity and peace” once Iran has a new government.
The video message comes amid fears of potential all-out regional war as tensions escalate between Israel, Iran-backed groups and other actors in the Middle East.
