A Chinese government agency called the Guangdong Provincial Association for Promotion of Trade with Russia posted a procurement notice on May 22 seeking “unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) equipment”, including drone detectors and jammers.
The notice asked for interference generators, drone detectors from certain Russian companies, drone suppressors, and communication band jammers.
Drone jammers can disrupt drones’ ability to operate and transmit information by emitting interfering signals. Ukraine relies heavily on drones in its defense against Russia.
The notice has been removed but was also posted by another Chinese government body, raising concerns Beijing may be supplying dual-use tech to Russia.
Experts say this adds to accusations China covertly supports Russia’s war effort through sales of dual-use goods, though Beijing claims it does not provide weapons or strictly controls exports.
The procurement seeks equipment that could undermine Ukraine’s drone tactics, though China denies the notice was to supply Russia and claims it was for buyers in Kazakhstan.
