Former Trump defense secretary urges Biden to do more to stop Iran’s threats on officials

Former Defense Secretary Mark Esper, who served under Trump and is one of the officials under constant security due to Iranian threats, urged the Biden administration to do more to stop Iran’s threats against former Trump administration officials.
Esper and other former officials like Mike Pompeo have 24/7 security protection following the 2020 assassination of Iranian general Qassim Soleimani, which was ordered by Trump. Iran has pledged revenge for this killing.
Intelligence officials say Iran is actively plotting to assassinate Trump in retaliation. This comes after a foiled plot against former national security adviser John Bolton was uncovered.

Esper said the Biden administration needs to do more than just defend against these threats and should take action against those plotting the attacks.
The Biden administration says countering these threats is a top national security priority, but Iran denies the assassination allegations as “unsubstantiated.”
