Chinese solar panel manufacturer JinkoSolar has unveiled the world’s first “green photovoltaic cell” called the Neo Green solar panel.
The Neo Green panel uses N-type TOPCon solar cell technology which is more efficient and higher performing than conventional solar panels. Exact performance metrics were not provided.
What makes the Neo Green panel unique is that it has achieved “Zero Carbon Factory” certification from TUV Rheinland, meaning the manufacturing process has no net carbon emissions.
This was accomplished through using renewable energy sources at factories, a vertically integrated supply chain, recycled materials, sustainable transportation, and packaging improvements.
The development of the Neo Green panel is the result of years of research and optimization of N-type TOPCon technology by JinkoSolar to increase efficiency while eliminating carbon impact.
The new green photovoltaic cell technology unveiled by China could disrupt the global energy market more than other recent solar breakthroughs involving titanium or hydrogen based solar panels.
