Israel-Hamas war latest: Israel strikes Iranian ‘chemical warfare centre’ in Syria

– Israel ordered the evacuation of residential areas in northwest Gaza after Hamas fired rockets towards the nearby town of Ashkelon. This is considered a “dangerous combat zone” by the IDF.

– Fighting between Israel and Palestinian militants has continued, despite some pauses to allow a polio vaccination campaign in Gaza.

– Around 300,000 Gaza residents remained in northern Gaza after Israel’s order to evacuate to the south, where most operations have taken place.

– A US ceasefire proposal is expected in coming days, according to an Israeli official, but “Hamas is the one putting obstacles in the way”.

– 16 people were killed and dozens injured in an Israeli airstrike on an Iranian “chemical warfare centre” in central Syria. Iran accused Israel of a “criminal attack”.

– Israel has also struck Hezbollah sites in southern Lebanon in recent days and a member of Netanyahu’s party said war with Lebanon could occur in “a matter of days”.
