SpaceX’s Crew Dragon spacecraft splashed down off the coast of Florida on October 25th, returning 4 astronauts from the International Space Station after a 7 month mission.
The astronauts included NASA’s Matthew Dominick, Michael Barratt and Jeanette Epps, as well as Alexander Grebenkin from Roscosmos, Russia’s space agency.
They had launched aboard the Crew Dragon on March 5th.
Their return was delayed multiple times, including due to Hurricane Milton in early October.
They spent over 200 days conducting experiments onboard the ISS related to areas like stem cells, plant growth in microgravity, and equipment to reduce health issues for astronauts.
Their splashdown wraps up SpaceX’s Crew-8 mission, which was the company’s 13th crewed flight and 8th mission for NASA to the ISS.
NASA is planning additional Crew Dragon missions in the coming years to rotate astronauts and continue construction and research on the International Space Station.
