Chinese automaker Xpeng Aeroht has unveiled plans for a new “Land Aircraft Carrier” electric vehicle that can launch and carry a two-person electric drone.
The vehicle combines an electric powertrain with a range extender, providing 621 miles of range and significantly reduced emissions compared to traditional gas-powered vehicles.
The ability to carry and launch the flying drone module makes this vehicle unique, as it could help emergency responders reach people faster or give commuters new options to beat traffic.
The 800-volt battery system powers the vehicle and can charge the flying module up to six times. Even factoring in battery production, the vehicle is still much cleaner than gas-powered alternatives.
Xpeng plans to begin trial production of the Land Aircraft Carrier in 2025, with full production starting in 2026. While the $280,000 price tag is high, it represents a significant step toward making flying cars more accessible to consumers.
The vehicle will debut at the upcoming China Airshow and Guangzhou International Auto Show, where visitors can see firsthand how electric vehicles are evolving into sophisticated mobility platforms.
